A Special Portrait

Reading his newspaper every morning, was one of his daily routines, especially after his retirement. He used to cut articles from the newspaper, on subjects he knew we were interested in, and give them to us so we can stay informed.

That’s one  small memory of the many precious recollections I have of you!

To my grandpa, a special person. I will miss you!

My grandpa’s gift

The red ribbon

With their matching red ribbons, they were a perfect match. My cousin sat on the floor and cuddled with our lovely dog Rudy.  He was so happy that he sat there taking in the full attention and love she was giving. Both of them, were enjoying the moment and it was as though they were left in each other’s arms. Although is was just for a moment, their warm aura filled the room.

Witnessing this tender and loving scene,  I couldn’t resist the urge to freeze the moment.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Red

Painting with purple

Even though I’ve heard about the Intentional Camera Movement, I haven’t tried it until today. So I grabbed my camera and ventured out to get creative.

I took my time in experimenting with different subjects, and this purple feather was one of them. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this process.

Autumn leaves

The last leaves are still hanging on the branches of various deciduous trees.

Though not for long, because of their destination. They have a duty to fulfill!

The spectacular display of the colorful foliage and  the shedding leaves on the earth add an interesting artistic element in the landscape.

The season is changing. Autumn is finally here and oh, do I love autumn walks!

Blown by the wind

 Pennisetum alopecuroides (fontain grass)

Fountain grass (Pennisetum alopecuroides) is one of the most beautiful perennial ornamental grasses. Swaying in the breeze, adds movement in the garden and gives an ethereal look to the scenery.

 Pennisetum alopecuroides (fontain grass)

When we went for lunch at Minthis Hills golf club restaurant, I spotted this fountain grass in the garden, which was moving in the rhythm of the breeze.  It brought to the landscape an amazing mixture of colors,  texture, motion even sound.  It was a big challenge capturing all these!

Nature trail in Kakopetria

The last time we visited Kakopetria – our favorite village as you know by now –  we walked for the  first time in the nature trail ‘Monopati tis Vateris’. It is  located alongside the old town of Kakopetria and the river Klarios.

If you ever find yourself in this charming place, I highly recommend to walk the trail. It’s just a kilometer long with a breathtaking scenery. You can sit on the wooden benches that are placed in various locations, take in the wonderful surroundings and let your imagination run wild.  Walking by the stream you can hear the sound of the running water, the tweeting of the birds and the loud song of the cicadas.

We really enjoyed our walk and the calming effect it had on us. Looking forward to going back soon.
