Love nature

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

– Albert Einstein

Another Earth Day is here. This year’s campaign of the EDN (Earth Day Network) is called: End Plastic Pollution.

If we all  reconsider and change our attitude towards the wide consumption of plastic, be more informed about the threats and consequences of our health and the environment, we should contribute to this effort.  Undoubtedly we all want to live on a cleaner and a healthier planet!

Nature trail in Kakopetria

The last time we visited Kakopetria – our favorite village as you know by now –  we walked for the  first time in the nature trail ‘Monopati tis Vateris’. It is  located alongside the old town of Kakopetria and the river Klarios.

If you ever find yourself in this charming place, I highly recommend to walk the trail. It’s just a kilometer long with a breathtaking scenery. You can sit on the wooden benches that are placed in various locations, take in the wonderful surroundings and let your imagination run wild.  Walking by the stream you can hear the sound of the running water, the tweeting of the birds and the loud song of the cicadas.

We really enjoyed our walk and the calming effect it had on us. Looking forward to going back soon.

Hiking in the forest

Taking the trolleybus no. 203 to its final destination, on a sunny winter day, we ended up in Koliba. It is a popular locality that belongs to the Bratislava Forest Park which is located in the foothills of the Little Carpathians in the northern part of Bratislava.

Bratislava Forest Park is a very popular place for the locals.  There are a lot of recreational facilities such as hiking, running and biking trails, sports facilities, playgrounds, snack kiosks etc.

While we were walking and enjoying the nature that the hiking trail had to offer, I noticed the sun-rays penetrating into the forest through the leafless trees creating interesting shadows on the ground. I was fascinated by the variety of forms the shadows were creating that I couldn’t resist and found myself in the peculiar and fun position of  ‘chasing’ shadows.

It was such a relaxing and joyful day, that we returned back home unwillingly.

Lady with long dress

leafless tree
Lady with long dress, Bratislava | by karafc

One cloudy day,  I was wandering around Bratislava with the intention of finding interesting things to shoot, when I saw this fascinating tree. It reminded me of a lady trying to stand against the wind, wearing a long dress with green details and rough texture. It looked like she is leaning her upper body backwards, as if making an effort to retain her balance while trying to hold onto the green railings behind her as the wind continues to blow…

This is the picture that popped in front of me as soon as I laid eyes on it. It might remind you something else or nothing at all, like my husband, who just sees a tall tree. It depends on everyone’s imagination!
